Entering the first quarter of 2026, the Vietnamese textile and garment industry continues to maintain positive growth momentum amidst significant changes in global trade. In the first three months of the year, export turnover is estimated at US$10.57 billion, a 2.9% increase compared to the same period in 2025, reflecting the continuous efforts of businesses in increasing domestic content and product quality. In this context, the business community is focusing on meeting increasingly stringent green and sustainable standards from key markets such as the US, EU, Japan, and South Korea. Pressure from regulations on supply chain auditing, yarn traceability, and ESG reporting requirements demands more proactive and systematic preparation from businesses.

From field to future: Why Cotton is the smart choice for sustainable fashion
In an industry grappling with textile waste, microplastic pollution, and a growing demand for end-of-life accountability, cotton offers something synthetics simply can’t: a natural return to the earth. This fiber is not only incredibly versatile, excelling in a wide range of apparel and textile applications, but also biodegrades relatively quickly in water and soil without releasing persistent plastic pollution.

At the invitation of the Office of Agricultural Affairs of the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Vu Duc Giang, VITAS Chairman, along with leaders of Phong Phu Corporation (PPC), attended a courtesy visit with USDA Under Secretary - Luke Lindberg and the U.S. delegation at the PPC’s headquarters on the afternoon of March 24th, 2026.

On the morning of March 20, 2026, 5S Weaving and Coating Co., Ltd. solemnly held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new factory in Huu Thanh IP, Tay Ninh Province. Attending the ceremony were the 5S company's leadership, representatives from the contractor, representatives from the industrial park, leaders of partner companies, and 5S employees. Representing Vitas, the event was attended by Mr. Vu Duc Giang, Chairman.

The International Labour Office (ILO) is looking for an individual to undertake work as an External Collaborator. The selected consultant, in collaboration with ILO and VITAS, will conduct research and develop a report on factors contributing to the capacity of garment enterprises to pay higher wages.

The document is the standards and safety assessment methods of LABS currently available in Vietnam. The standard is applied to garment, footwear, handbag and accessory factories in the LABS program, aiming to address the risks and safety hazards for textile and footwear factory buildings. These standards are based on the experience of international standards and good practices in fire, electrical and construction safety.

On September 7, 2023, in HCM City, the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) and the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) jointly organized the "Vietnam - Taiwan Textile Cooperation Forum"  2023 to enhance in-depth cooperation, expand investment opportunities for Vietnamese and Taiwanese textile & Garment enterprises.
