Ministry of Health issues new guidance for F0 caring at home

According to the latest guidance from the Ministry of Health, F0 who are treated at home must wear a mask when they leave the isolation place and keep their distance from others.
On March 14, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 604 with guidance on home management for people with COVID-19.

This document replaces the Decision of the Minister of Health: No. 261 dated January 31, 2022 promulgating Guidelines for managing people with COVID-19 at home and No. 528 dated March 3, 2022 promulgating Guidelines for administration at home for children with COVID-19.

According to the new guidance issued on March 14, the clinical criteria of people with COVID-19 being treated at home are added "Being a COVID-19 patient who has been treated by a medical examination and treatment facility but has not met Credentials from COVID-19 and meets criteria for home management are sent home for continued care."

In addition, the Guide to Decision 604 adds the "Medical declaration" section with F0 for home treatment. In which, F0 or caregivers notify commune health stations, wards or F0 management facilities at home... according to local guidelines on: personal information, time of being diagnosed with COVID-19, the subject is managed at home when isolation ends, home treatment.

Commune health stations, wards or facilities managing people with COVID-19 at home collect information and make a list of people with COVID-19 to work at home according to the form specified in Appendix 01.
Necessary items with F0 home treatment

- Thermometer;
- Personal SpO2 meter (if any);
-  Medical masks;
- Means of hand hygiene;
- Necessary personal items;
- Containers for infectious waste with lids.
- Means of communication: Telephones, phone numbers of medical facilities (medical stations, district health centers, emergency transport centers, doctors, community advisory groups, response teams) fast, hospital...).
- Antipyretic: paracetamol for adults: 500mg tablets, enough quantity for 3-5 days. Paracetamol for children (depending on weight and age): sachets of powder or nuggets mixed with oral suspension or tablets with the content of 80mg, 100mg, 150mg or 250mg, 325mg, 500mg, the quantity is enough for 3-5 days.
- Electrolyte balancing solution: Oresol, rehydration pack, other electrolytes.
- Cough suppressants (depending on symptoms): Herbal medicines, or cough suppressants alone, or cough suppressants combined with antihistamines...., enough for 5-7 days. Note the indications, contraindications and warnings, be careful while using the drug.
- Nasal solution: 0.9% sodium chloride, enough for 5-7 days.
- Medicines to treat underlying diseases according to prescriptions being used for the patient (if necessary, enough for 01-02 weeks).
The guidelines on "Monitoring people's health with COVID-19" are almost unchanged from the previously issued documents (No. 261 and No. 528). However, the Ministry of Health added requirements on implementing infection prevention measures.
Accordingly, F0 and caregivers or people living in the same house with F0 implement infection control and infection prevention measures, as follows:
- F0 needs to limit going out of the isolation place. When you have to leave an isolated place, you must wear a mask and keep your distance from others.
- Caregivers or family members are living in the same house always wear masks and keep a distance when they have to come into contact with F0.
- The isolation place is kept well ventilated, limiting the use of difficult-to-clean items (stuffed animals, paper, paperboard...) in this area.
- Wash or disinfect hands frequently. Disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces such as countertops, doorknobs, hand-held devices, toilets, sinks, etc., daily and when dirty.
- Classify and collect infectious waste according to regulations.
