At the seminar, Mr. Vu Duc Giang – Vitas’s Chairman said that 2018 is a successful year of Vietnam textile and garment industry. Total export turnover is expected to reach over US $36 billion, exceeding US $1.5 billion against the target, up 16.01% YoY. Trade surplus of the industry reached about US $18 billion. Although Vietnam's economy is still facing many difficulties, thanks to the support of the Government, along with the efforts the enterprise community, Vietnam's economy has achieved many important results, including the great contribution of the textile-garment industry. Giang said that many enterprises had been working on completing a textile and garment supply chain.
Next year, the textile and garment industry has set a target of $40 billion in export value, a year on year increase of 10.8 per cent, and a trade surplus of $20 billion.
