25/04/2022 05:17 PM
On April 20, 2022, in HCM City, representatives of the Industrial Development Center of Southern Vietnam (IDCS) and the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) had a meeting to discuss and propose coordination to effectively implement programs to develop supporting industries in the southern region.
At the meeting, IDCS representative, Mr. Hoang Ba Son - Acting Director shared about the programs chaired by the Center to be implemented in 2022 in the Southern region, the expected goals and suggested VITAS to coordinate in implementation to bring practical effects to members in particular and the textile garment industry in general. Programs that will be jointly implemented with the Association include supporting member enterprises in improving production, enhancing competitiveness, supporting connectivity and deeply participating in domestic and international supply chains in the textile garment sector. In particular, the trade expansion program helps textile and garment industry members expand their markets to Europe, taking full advantage of the EVFTA agreement.

Talking about the general situation of the textile industry and the Association, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai - Deputy Secretary General of VITAS said, VITAS currently has more than 700 members, including units in the production and business chain of Spinning - Weaving - Dyeing - Garment; along with many businesses in the fields of services & products for the textile garment industry such as raw materials, chemicals, banking, finance, energy, training... are also members. Ms. Mai highly appreciated the method of coordination in implementing industrial development programs proposed by IDCS. Especially, with the prestige and experience of the Association, the coordination in implementing the industrial development program with the Center will bring practical effects to businesses, maximize the resources of the state budget.

According to the IDCS representative, in 2022 and the following years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will widely and comprehensively implement the industrial development program according to the content of Decision No. 68/QD-TTg dated January 18, 2017 of the Prime Minister on the approval of the supporting industry development program for the period 2016 to 2025. There are four priority areas for development, including the production of mechanical components, auto parts, electronic components and textile garment and footwear products. Besides, the fields of investment incentives to create a breakthrough in industrial development are also deployed.

With a large number of supporting industry enterprises benefiting from the program, along with a large scale of production and supporting industry products, and geographical locations spread all over the country, the implementation of the programs needs the coordination of the participating industries, organizations and business communities at home and abroad to effectively promote all resources in performing the task of developing supporting industries in the field of textile, garment, leather and footwear.
