Meeting on Project of Promoting social dialogue in the workplace and effective collective bargaining in the textile garment industry

On April 26, 2022, in HCM city, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL), Dutch CNV Internationaal (CNV) chaired a meeting with the Project Advisory Board of HCM city and Dong Nai province in order to update progress, remove difficulties and promote the signing of a Collective Labor Agreement (CBA) of a group of textile and garment enterprises.
At the meeting, representatives of the VGCL and CNV discussed the Joint cooperation plan between Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Dutch CNV Internationaal in the 2021-2025 period. The delegates also listened to the representatives of the Labor Confederation of HCM City and Dong Nai province to report on the implementation situation and the plan to extend/expand the Collective Labor Agreement (CBA) of local enterprises for the 2021- 2022 period.

Through the exchange, the participants agreed to strengthen coordination to promote the project implementation according to the 2022 plan. In HCM city: Reinforcing the city-level Project Advisory Board; Renewing/expanding the Business Group Agreement in Tan Binh District and Thu Duc City, each inviting 3-5 more enterprises; With the Textile and Garment Union in HCM city – deploy Business Group Agreement with at least 3 enterprises in the first time. In Dong Nai province: Strengthening the mobilization of businesses in Bien Hoa city and Trang Bom district, expanding the participants of the Group Agreement in Bien Hoa Industrial Park; Building and signing new collective agreements of business groups in these areas.

Regarding the project implementation in the southern provinces in 2022, VITAS organized 2 training courses in HCM city and Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province with the content of social dialogue skills at work and collective labor agreement. In the coming time, VITAS will continue to accompany the provincial/municipal and districts Labor unions to work directly at enterprises to mobilize units participating in the project, and at the same time strengthen connections in the textile garment supply chain.
