AAFA urges Biden to accelerate the distribution of excess U.S. vaccines to key partner countries around the world including Vietnam in the apparel and footwear supply chain

Results of the survey on demand for Covid-19 vaccine in enterprises according to Official Letter No. 93/2021/VITAS dated May 31st 2021  /  Deputy PM lauds businesses' contributions to COVID-19 vaccine fund

On June 09, 2021, American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) officially sent letter to urge Biden’s administration to accelerate the distribution of excess U.S. vaccines to key partner countries around the world including Vietnam in the apparel and footwear supply. The letter emphasized that these countries are confronting a new surge in COVID-19 cases that threatens to derail their economic recoveries and, in turn, the significant gains made toward a full U.S. economic recovery. Thanks to Biden administration’s strategic leadership, well-over half of American adults are fully vaccinated and countless lives are saved. It is time to broaden the recovery outside to America’s partner countries.  The bottom line is that the success of the U.S. apparel and footwear industry’s 4 million American workers is directly dependent on the suppliers around the world, including Vietnam.

VITAS' view on the US Vaccine Diplomacy campaign: The only way to bring COVID-19 to a close is through a global effort. Vaccine diplomacy is an important note in the context of the global shortage of vaccines. In May 2021, VITAS in collaboration with LEFASO also sent official documents calling for the cooperation support of many international organizations and brands in the US.

We highly appreciate the support of the AAFA to petition Biden administration to promote vaccination against Covid-19.
